Theatre of the Mind's Eye, Part 1

The Warner Brothers introduction flashes on the screen, replaced by the DC Comics logo.

The camera cuts to a view of the Earth. We see an alien craft come hurtling through the atmosphere, beginning to burn and break up during re-entry.

The screen goes black, and then across the screen we see the following text:

In brightest day,
We see the wreckage of the ship from the inside. A tear in the hull allows daylight to enter the ship. A human figure is silhouetted by the light as he pokes his head in. The light is to his back, so his face remains shadowed, but we can see that he wears a bomber jacket and has short brown hair. "Is anyone alive in here?" he calls out. A white-gloved hand reaches out to him from underneath some rubble.
In darkest night,
Flying through the sky, a humanoid figure can be seen, heading for downtown Los Angeles. The figure is sheathed in a golden aura, which makes his features unidentifiable. The figure streaks closer to the city and out of our direct line of sight, while we continue to see the skyline. Suddenly an explosion appears in the city.
No evil shall escape my sight.
Men and women in military uniforms are present, along with many vehicles, some still intact, many which are not. One by one, the soldiers kneel down, as the camera pans upward. Floating in the air, still surrounded by a faint yellow glow, we see a red skinned man with black hair. He wears a black outfit, accentuated with blue trim. On his right hand, a golden ring pulsates. A pencil thin mustache accentuates the predatory grin on his face.
Let those who worship evil's might,
From above, a blast of green energy impacts the red-skinned man we saw earlier. The man is no longer hovering above the military men, but was high above the city. The blast sends him flying into a building, which he smashes through. The golden aura around the man flares as he impacts. A moment passes, and then he flies back out the hole he created. The camera cuts to a close-up of his mouth, as he sneers and says a single word, "Jordan."
Beware my power,
We cut to the head and shoulders view of a man. Identifiable by his hair, we see that he is the same man from the alien craft, but a green domino mask hides his face. Behind him we see a field of stars. The camera pulls back as it rotates behind him. We see that he is wearing a black and green uniform with white gloves. A green glow surrounds his right hand, then encompasses his body as he streaks towards the Earth, surrounded by a green glow.
Green Lantern's light.
The words fade away, to be replaced with the following.

After a moment, the flames die away, leaving a black screen. Then the following words appear:
This summer, the earth gets a new hero.
Author's Note: No, this isn't actually a trailer that exists. But it really ought to be.
Edit: My above comment about the animated DC logo only meant to refer to the logo being animated. I see this as a live-action film. I have removed that referrence.

I think if they do an animated Green Lantern movie, it should be with their rendition of Jon Stewart. (But I do agree, it should be a movie.)

No, no, not an animated movie. Just the new animated logo they have for DC Comics.

Ah, I haven't seen that yet. Or, at least, I don't remember it. Who do you think should play GL?

That is a great trailer write up. I would go see a movie based on that. Great work and very imaginative!

Os,

The logo was attached to both V for Vendetta and the trailer for Superman Returns. It may have been used on Batman Begins, I don't recall.

Honestly, I'm not sure. There are a number of Hollywood actors who could do Hal Jordan fine, I'm sure. That said, I'd prefer to go with an unknown. Same with Sinestro, although there's a part of me that wants Timothy Dalton to play him.

Complimenting Comenter,
Thanks! I had fun writing it up. I expect to do a few more of these from time to time. Glad you enjoyed it.
